2DM class assembly - THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON
Wow! We were entertained with a very hot and fiery assembly by 2DM on Friday. The audience was packed with parents and children alike, waiting in anticipation of what was to come. They were certainly not disappointed!
The class has thoroughly enjoyed their topic on The Fire of London and this shone through when we were treated to all the children’s learning experiences throughout the curriculum areas. From colour walks, photography in ICT to fiery shapes in PE Dance. Detailed art work was produced of the houses on Pudding Lane and collages of imagined flames lapping the timber-framed buildings. The story of The Fire of London was beautifully told by the children. However, the very best bit of the assembly was the re-creation of The Fire of London on Pudding Lane! Miss Maltwood had to work with Miss MacFarlane to write a detailed risk assessment to ensure that everything went very smoothly and we did not create The Fire of South Grove….
The video clip showed how quickly the fire would have spread to each house and the children’s faces (from a safe distance away) showed how fascinated they were by their whole topic.
Well done to Miss McFarlane, Mrs Monaghan and the children of 2DM for such a flaming good assembly!
Here’s what the parents had to say:
- You were all fantastic – well done! You should be very proud of your hard work and effort. That was brilliant. Thank you!!
- Superb performance. Hats off to all 2DM children, Miss McFarlane and Miss Monaghan. Well done.
- Great effort. Loved the sizzle…
