Gallery: Safer Internet Day 2018
On Tuesday 6th February, South Grove Primary school took part in this year’s Safer Internet Day. This year’s theme was, ‘Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you.’
Each year group took part in a range of differentiated activities to highlight the positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community.
Reception’s main focus throughout the day was the ‘Smartie the Penguin’ story. The children followed the adventures of Smartie and Daddy Penguin as Smartie learned how to be safe on the internet.
KS1 were focusing on the story of the ‘Three little monsters and the school competition.' This is a story aimed for ages 3 - 7 years. The story is about three monsters, who love to use the internet, but have a problem that they need to solve.
Years 3-6 were invited to make a pledge to do something great and positive online this Safer Internet Day. They used a jigsaw template to show how their actions fit in with the actions of those around them, to create a better internet.
Please look at our pictures!
All the children thoroughly enjoyed their day:
“I loved playing the emoji game. We had to think about how we would feel if something online was done to us.’ Arda Year 3
“I liked making my pledge because if someone is sad we can help them” Isaac Year 4
“Making the safer internet day poster was my favourite because I want to win the competition and show people how to be safe online.” Noah Year 3
“I liked making my digital footprint because I’m a fan of Nintendo!” Aissam PLM
“Smartie teaches us that when something pops up on the computer you need to tell your parents.”Aayaliyah Reception
