Visit to City Hall in London as part of The Mayor’s Project

Our children did South Grove proud when 30 children from Year 5 and 6, the School Council and the Art Council attended an event at City Hall where we took over London for a day (along with 8 other London schools).

In front of around 500 people, the event started where we bravely took over the stage to discuss our values and ideas from the UN Rights of the Child.  Following this, the children attended workshops and prepared a speech that was delivered in front of the Deputy Mayor!   They were very brave and took to the stage with confidence and charm.  We presented our ideas on working with London in creating spaces where children exercise more outside and win points to then play video games inside.  Our proposal was called Playing Games Outside - Playing Games Inside. We will post the video and links to the Mayors website when we receive it this week!

Here is a copy of the Children's Charter that the children were collectively involved in writing

This will now inform the Charter that the Mayor is currently writing.

Congratulations to all of the children who were involved.
