ShoeShare Charity Drive
Did you know that more than 59 million Primary School aged children around the world are not in education? This is just under the population of the UK!
At South Grove, we believe that every child has the Right to Education and this is one of the main reasons why the Rights Respecting Schools Team decided to host this years’ Shoe Share. On June 14th, the RRS team was an incredible group of shoe fairies who made sure shoes were in good condition, that they were in pairs and that the bags were labelled. On June 15th, the heavy bags were promptly collected and we were all blown away with the numbers of shoes we had collected in! 14 Black Sacks were stuffed full of quality shoes in need of a second chance.
Thanks to everyone for taking part especially those who put in the extra time to support the cause. It was brilliant! Unicef will be notifying us about the weight of our donation.
For every tonne of shoes collected, a donation is made to Unicef which goes towards education programmes around the world.
Way to go team!

Convention on the Rights of the Child
Article 28: (Right to education): All children have the right to a primary education, which should be free. Wealthy countries should help poorer countries achieve this right.
