Welcome back! It was really good to welcome everyone back to a new Autumn Term yesterday! I trust you all had a good summer break and for once we had really good weather to enjoy it in if you were holidaying in the UK. It was really lovely to see the children looking very smart in their new uniforms and ready for the new term. Walking around the school with new families it was really good to see that they were all settled into their new classes and are getting used to their new routines. We also welcome all of our new families in Reception and Nursery.
The staff returned to school on Thursday 1st September. All support staff had a training session on First Aid and a group of both teaching and support staff had Fire Marshall training during the afternoon. This supports the school with the Health and Safety of the children and staff at the school as well as during any evacuation of the building that may need to take place.
On Friday 2nd September all staff had a training session on Unicef’s Rights Respecting Schools as the school is working on gaining this accreditation. We have already been successful in receiving the Recognition of Commitment, where the school is committed to placing the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of their ethos and becoming a rights-respecting school. During the afternoon we looked at consistency and practice across the school in terms of expectations and staff prepared their learning areas ready to welcome the children back.
