World Book Day 2017 Assembly
What a World Book Day Celebration! Celebrating World Book Day at South Grove is always a celebration and brings out the best in our pupils and of course, the staff. Many parents would have noticed that we had a new Office Manager working on Friday, the celebrity book character Mrs Twit….she was teamed up with her husband Mr Twit, currently a member of Year 4 as you will see from the photographs!
Our assembly showed the children’s love of books, the characters and the story lines. As adults we need to continue to instil this love of books and reading as our assembly encouraged the children to do. It opens up so many different worlds and avenues for them. This also includes non-fiction books too!
Thank you to the children of Nursery, Year 1, Year 3, Year 4 and 5 that contributed to the assembly. The Nursery children sang us a song about the story of The Three Little Pigs and did a super job, standing on the stage so confidently, one or two showing their potential for a life on the stage!
We were treated to a fantastic video of Year 3D children reading in a variety of ways outside which we will upload here soon. Year 5 compared, supported the younger children with the microphone and ran a quiz on book characters for the audience.
Year 1 shared their favourite books and why they loved them, with Year 4 also sharing their book reviews in a rucksack.
The Reading song was great and encouraged everyone to join in. Thank you to Mrs Sandhu- Hanif and Miss McCarthy for organising the assembly with support from all the Teachers and Support Staff of those Year Groups who took part.
Thank you to our large audience of parents supporting our celebrations. It is very much appreciated and we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.
