Super Hot Summer Music Concert!

We were thoroughly spoilt on Friday to a fantastic summer music concert organised by Miss Matthews during Fridays’ Whole School Assembly. Our Year 6 comperes did a brilliant job by introducing all the performers and were excellent at encouraging and praising their efforts!

We were treated to our Keyboard groups, various recorder groups, guitars, and those having external music lessons from Waltham Forest Music Services, learning to play the flute and violin. The duets were great and show how the children have progressed over the year.

Our drumming group have grown in confidence and accompanied the keyboards during the concert. They have really developed well and have honed their skills beautifully!

Key Stage 1 choir brought a tear to our eyes with their rendition of ‘Let’s go fly a kite.’ Absolutely fabulous. The KS2 Choir sang a couple of songs from their recent Meadowsong Concert which brought lots of children’s choirs together in one big concert. The songs were beautifully sung with such feeling.

Miss Matthews treated the appreciative audience of children, staff and parents to a range of classic, traditional and contemporary music, which everyone really enjoyed. Everyone sung to the finale song with guitar and recorder accompaniment which was George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun.’ A fantastic way to end the concert!

Well done to all the children that took part and to Miss Matthews who has worked incredibly hard with all of the children and showcase their talents during the assembly! Well done to all!

Here’s what the proud parents had to say:

‘I can’t believe this was my last South Grove music concert. Thank you for the many

years of fabulous entertainment. You all do a fabulous job. Keep singing and playing!’

‘CONGRATULATIONS!! It’s really fantastic.’

‘So much hard work! So lovely to watch – thank you!’

‘Amazing! What great musicality you all have!’

‘Fantastic! Ms Matthews did an outstanding job again. I love how the groups are now playing together. Great to see so many kids taking part. Not a coincidence the school is now OUTSTANDING!’

‘I’ve spent a really good time and I am proud of my kids and their abilities.  You’re encouraging the kids to realise their talents and ‘can do’ feeling. Thank you very much for all your efforts.’
