A special guest at last Friday's Assembly

Written on: Monday 30 September 2019

We had a lovely Friday assembly last week as we presented all of the new roles for the academic year. During the assembly, we had a special guest. Samih- a 15 year old student from Fredrick Bremmer came to wish the children well with their new posts and speak to them about resilience.

Samih had lost his vision as a young child because of a serious illness but this has not stopped him becoming an amazingly talented singer and public speaker. We were so lucky to have him at the school with us.

Samih has the most incredible voice and a very inspiring story. Ask your child to talk about the assembly if they haven't already. So many people mentioned Samih at lunchtime Friday and many of them found it inspirational. Even the adults shed a few tears. Way to go Samih!

South Grove presented Samih with a badge and he became an honorary member of our Rights Respecting Schools team. Welcome to the team Samih!

The children left assembly ready to represent the school in all of the different areas -from School Council to Anti- Bullying Ambassadors and many other positions in between.

We are all very excited about the new representatives and look forward to Being The Change We Want To See Happen in  2019-2020.
