SPRING 2020 || Whole School Assembly – Chinese New Year
The EYFS Nursery and Reception gathered the whole school together during our Friday assembly with a packed audience of eager and supportive parents.
This was one of the first times that both Nursery and Reception have performed together and certainly the first time that Nursery have performed in front of a large audience. All the children looked very bright in their red outfits as red is China's good luck colour, believed to scare away spirits of bad fortune. Chinese usually wear red or other brightly-coloured clothes on New Year's Day, to go with the festive mood. Our children certainly looked festive!
We were treated to RMA’s video of the children acting out the story of ‘The Great Race’ - there are some budding actors within this class obviously! RM used their energy to do some fantastic dragon dances like some of our children have experienced in China Town. Reception children also showed their skills at Chinese writing. It was brilliant!
Nursery sang a lovely song ‘Old Jade Emperor had a Race‘ with actions and were very brave to face the very large audience! They sang brilliantly with lots of energetic actions.
Thanks go to all the EYFS staff for supporting the children to feel confident to do their very best. Also particular thanks needs to go to the children in KS1 and KS2, Vicky, Angelina, Ama and Nina that supported the children to lead the assembly.
Thank you to all the parents that came to support their children. It means a great deal to the children to have you there. Here is what you had to say about the children:
‘Wonderful performance. Thank you teachers for your hard work, especially with young children. It’s amazing to see my child on the stage!’
‘Fantastic assembly. The Reception and Nursery children did a great job.’
‘A fantastic multimedia experience!’
‘Brilliant performance and lots of fun.’
