Reception Introduction

WECOME TO RECEPTION!

Please read this important letter about home learning:

Hello Everyone

Don't forget to check this page at least once a week to see updates on what you can be working on.

While the children are at home they won't be able to do a full school day of work - that's okay! Try to ensure that your child is happy and that they feel safe. Practice reading every day with you or another adult, or older sibling or indeed by themselves. It is important that children in Early Years ‘talk a lot’ and verbally express their ideas and thoughts as they practice talking in sentences. Try to ensure that they continue to develop skills in maths as everyday life is full of practical mathematical opportunities! Try to work through the activities that have been uploaded to the website and google classrooms.

As well as reading and maths, children should enjoy keeping busy with activities linked to their own interests and have a go at some of the activities in the year group folder or from the  Easter activity passport.

Remember, each day children should make some time to:

  • Read
  • Talk to their family, practise speaking in sentences
  • Exercise
  • Practice writing their name, some words and sentences
  • Practise counting and solving practical mathematical problems
  • Be creative, sing, dance, draw, paint, make up stories, build or make models, enjoy exploring and developing their own interests
  • Have fun
