Mini Tour de Waltham Forest cycling competition (VIDEO) - June 2022

Sadly, we didn’t retain our golden, first place trophy but we still managed to come home with a bronze one.  Personally, I think the children felt the pressure upon arriving from the staff leading the competition who were aware of our history, winning each event since it launched.  However, the children were given a free ‘goodie bag’ from Waltham Forest as a thank you for attending and a medal.  Their photo will be added to the Library’s Sport shelf.

My favourite part of the day would probably have to be when the children were blending their smoothies by cycling. Meanwhile, a school besides us, had chosen a song and were pedaling to make the song play. Backstreet Boys ‘I Want It That Way’ begins and Ms Edmonds and I begin a slow sway with some gentle humming. By the time the chorus started, South Grove were fully immersed and singing with passion and movement skills to outperform any west end show. It was a moment that I’m almost certain we will all treasure forever!
