5G's Class Assembly
5G's Class Assembly June 2024
Well, we certainly did go back in time during Friday’s class assembly. We entered the hall into a Victorian Classroom…..we had a whistle stop tour of life in Victorian times for children and adults.
The children were very much in the Victorian Era and shared their vast range of learning they had gained through studying the topic.
The children expertly re-enacted the Victorian classroom that they had taken part in at the Ragged Museum and shared the unusual names that children had during Victorian times…..such as Emmeline, Cordelia, Eudora, Josepha.
New inventions were shared such as bicycles, the telephone and tarmac and they performed an amusing sketch regarding the invention of the hoover.
The children told us about the various working roles that children had during the Victorian times and the awful injuries they received through working with dangerous machinery and how the children would be punished by sticking pins in them to work quicker.
Then 5G held a quiz to test that adults had been listening….Mr Perna got into difficulty as he arrived later into the assembly and I, Miss Maltwood, was told I would be receiving a large amount of paper work in exchange for not getting her question quite right!
Finally the children sang a great song called ‘Victorian Kids’. Well done 5G, Mrs Grant and Mrs Sharma for all your hard work.
The parents and carers loved it! Here is what they had to say…..
What a wonderful assembly! I was transported back in time and learned lots of interesting facts
Amazing assembly! Well done Ms Grant and all of 5G
Fantastic humour and engagement with the audience, especially with the teachers. Very well rehearsed and everyone enjoyed it. Well done to all.
