Jungle and Ocean Room
In Nursery we often learn in smaller groups with our Key Worker. This means our Key Worker has an opportunity to build relationships with your child and assess their learning in a quieter environment. This in turn informs the feedback on progress you receive during Parent’s Evening and in your child’s report at the end of the year. This learning takes place in either in Jungle or Ocean Room as well as through child- led play and focused activities. Doing so, means the children have more opportunities to have a turn, build up their effective learning behaviours such as listening to others and joining in. Here are some examples of our activities which have stemmed from our learning. The photos are labelled to indicate one aspect of the learning that is on show, although there might be lots of other aspects which are also in play.
Have you read this term's overview? It will give you more information about your child's learning this term.

Monday 20 November 2023 Nursery Learn about Diwali Nursery have been learning about Diwali this week and have enjoyed making Diya tea lights, out of salt dough. This is an excellent activity alongside things like playdough or Plasticine or clay to help develop fine motor strength and skills. To make a Diya lamp the children needed to roll a ball and then press their fingers to flatten it out and fit a candle inside. They then pinched the edges up to form a lip, so lots of skills involved. After the salt dough had been left to dry, the children chose colours to paint with and then eventually added sparkles using glue.

Monday 6 November 2023 Nursery Learn all about Cultures and Celebration Nursery have started their learning about different cultures in our community and the celebrations though out the year with a focus on Harvest. This is a celebration to give thanks to the land and to those who work on the land to collect the Harvest ready for winter. We used oil pastels to draw still life pictures of vegetables by looking at the colours and shapes we could see. We then chopped and cooked Harvest Soup and gave thanks to all the farmers that help us eat by growing food around the world.
