5G's Class Assembly
Last Friday we were treated to a fabulously fun and informative assembly about the joy of living in London and all it has to offer. First off, there were battles between many of the London landmarks who boasted about their attributes with fun facts in an attempt to become London’s best landmark. But after a closely fought competition with compelling arguments, there would always only be one winner – The Thames of course!
We were then treated to a few rounds of ‘Are you smarter than a 5th grader?’ (we’re not sure if anyone is actually…) where 5G made the teachers quake in their boots as they waited to see if they would be asked to search in the backs of their minds for their London knowledge. These included questions such as ‘What event did Shakespeare’s Globe survive?’ (the Great Fire of London) and ‘How many pods does the London Eye have? (it’s 32) And for a bonus point what what do each of the pods represent?’ (each of the London boroughs) Luckily everyone (including myself – phew!) got their questions correct.
The assembly finished with a rousing song extoling the virtues of London landmarks. 5G’s knowledge was impressive and they had clearly enjoyed their topic. Well done to you all!
Thank you to parents and carers for all their support with the children’s research project of London landmarks; they are amazing and currently exhibited in the school library. A day will be organised for parents to come in and view them all.
Here’s what the parents had to say:
Great presentation really informative. In particular I never knew the London Eye has 32 pods to represent the 32 boroughs!
Great performances from all I really enjoyed it.
Great assembly again – all the practice the children put in really showed – loads of proud parents!
